A UNIQUE ENDEAVOUR
Beautifying Bronte House, Inside and Out
Built as far back as 1845, Bronte House is one of Waverly Council’s oldest buildings, and its gardens are internationally recognised. It was an honour to be selected as the designated remedial contractors for the restoration of this heritage building.
A major focus of this project was replacing the slate roof, which we did under strict conditions to keep the inside of the building safe and dry at all times. This was achieved with daily programming and marking out of the nominated area for reroofing works each day. Our remedial builders gave new life to the roof’s timber structure, the mechanical systems, lead flashings, roof guttering and stormwater drainage system.
Internally, we conducted specialist remedial building repairs and maintenance to upgrade the joinery, tessellated floor tiles, stone and masonry, and we damp-proofed the house. We replaced the heritage wallpaper, repainted the walls and upgraded the electrical and plumbing systems for high functionality and safety.
For the building’s exterior, we also repainted and did a traditional lime wash. New wire supports were installed for heritage climbing plants. We upgraded the fencing around the property’s perimeter, completed full garden maintenance and refurbished the garage to ensure ease of use and secure the integrity of the space. Overall, it was a unique project, to which our remedial builders gave 100% dedication and supreme craftsmanship.
