South Solitary Island Lighthouse is a beautiful building located approximately 9 km Northeast of Coffs Harbour in NSW. Our refurbishment project was not the first conducted on this iconic island structure. Back in 2019, refurbishment works on part of the pavilion building revealed that the roof sheeting, flashing and other components of the structure were in poor condition. The pavilion roof was in dire need of repairs, and that’s where Murphy’s came in.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority contacted us, seeking innovative remedial building solutions that would restore the roof to optimal condition for the longevity of this prized lighthouse building. With decades of experience in commercial reroofing, heritage building restoration projects as well as hazardous material removals throughout Australia, we were the best team for the job. We combined our reroofing and remedial building expertise to ensure that South Solitary Island Lighthouse would have a robust pavilion roof to protect it from harsh weather conditions.

After 20 productive weeks of remedial building and reroofing works on the lighthouse pavilion building, Murphy’s restored the structure to prime condition and safely removed the existing lead paint, leaving our clients extremely impressed with the end result. With refurbished flashing, roof sheetings and fresh, hazard-free paint, South Solitary Island Lighthouse is now preserved to serve the community for many years to come.
